Michael MacRae was another artist I was drawn to at FanExpo Vancouver. Currently a student at Emily Carr, Michael is both an amazing illustrator and a highly imaginative storyteller. The intriguing backstories he creates for his art leave you wanting to know more.
I really connected with this piece, titled, “A Lapse of Memory” when I read what he said about the girl he can’t stop illustrating: “I’ve drawn this girl way way too many times, but I can’t get enough of her. She’s just a figment of my imagination, she’s the one I turn to when I let my mind wander, she is made for me and only me.”
It reminded me of my main character, Fate Floyd, who has a similar relationship with a boy named Finn.
And this one titled, “Flight” is another piece that made me think of Fate when she gives herself the power to fly through her Words of Making.
